Road maintenance is one of the most vital functions of the Public Works Department. The City has a year round schedule, whether it is snow plowing and sanding in the winter, filling potholes in summer or crack-filling in the fall, city staff continually maintains roads both blacktop and gravel.
During the year, city maintenance staff grades gravel roads, adds class 5 where needed, replaces signs, paints crosswalks, stripes center lines, conducts traffic counts, unblocks frozen culverts, trims back overhanging trees and brush, picks up garbage and mows ditches.
