The City government consists of an elected City Council, one of these members is the Mayor. The day to day operations are overseen by the City Administrator. The City Administrator is appointed by the City Council.The elected term for each member of the Council is 4 years, the Mayor's term is 2 years.
The Dayton City Council meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held at Dayton City Hall, unless otherwise noted. The City Council appoints advisory bodies to help with recommendations. Advisory bodies include the Planning Commission, Parks Commission and Public Safety Commission. Persons interested in placing items on the agenda are requested to contact Samantha Orduno, City Administrator.
