NE Dayton Contract 3, Area 5 Street and Utility Improvements

Contractor: Kuechle Underground

Temporary seed and mulch installation will begin shortly.

Mailbox installation will begin on Thursday.

general project information:

·        The construction season will be coming to an end soon and restoration has started. Currently, the contractor is grading boulevards in preparation for seed.

·        Due to colder temperatures, we are passed the appropriate time of year for germinating residential lawn grass seed. In order to protect the topsoil from spring runoff and stabilize existing exposed areas, we will be installing a temporary winter wheat seed mix along with weed free straw mulch.

·        Next spring the contractor will be installing the permanent residential lawn grass seed mix and hydromulch when the growing season begins in May.

·        The winter wheat will die later in the spring and mulch will decompose to aid growth for the permanent seed.

·        It’s possible a small amount of straw mulch will blow into your yard during installation. After a few final mowings or fall raking, your yard should be free of any straw.

Mailbox Installation

·        Starting on Thursday, Kuechle will be installing your old mailbox in the location it was before construction.

·        Please set your mailbox by the curb, in the location it was before construction, by Friday November 2nd, so the contractor can install your mailbox for you. If you do not have your mailbox out by Monday, it will be your responsibility to install it yourself.

·        The US Post Office will resume mail service starting Tuesday November 6th, in your permanent mailbox. At that time, the temporary mailboxes will be removed.
